A Step-By-Step Guide to Printing Promotional Lanyards

When you’re looking to raise awareness of your business, organisation, or cause, one of the best ways to do so is through lanyards and other wearable items that can help you spread your message to others. In this guide on how to print promotional lanyards, we’ll cover everything from the basic supplies you’ll need and selecting the right tools for your project to choosing the best materials and learning about their properties. Printing custom lanyards will be easier with all the tips and tricks we’ve included in this guide.

Choose Your Lanyard Colours
Decide on the colours of your lanyards. You can choose either one colour or multiple colours. If you select multiple colours, make sure they complement each other. You don't want your lanyards to be too busy or look like a rainbow. Choose two contrasting colours that go well together. For example, red and black would make an excellent combination, as would blue and green.

Select Materials
When printing lanyards, you'll need to decide on the type of material first. Several options are available, including nylon, polyester, and cotton. Each option has pros and cons, so select the one that best suits your needs.

Once you've selected a material, you'll need to choose a width and thickness. The width will determine how much text or imagery can be printed on the lanyard, while the thickness will affect its durability. Thinner materials (such as nylon) will cost less per foot than thicker materials (such as polyester).

You should also consider the colour: white is famous for businesses and event organisers because they don't show dirt easily. However, if you want to use custom colours such as black or red, you may need to order more lanyards at a time.

When ordering your lanyards, you'll also need to decide whether or not they should come with safety breakaway connectors installed at each end.

Get Your Logo Designed In The Right Format
Before printing your lanyards, you need to have a high-quality logo design. This will be the centrepiece of your lanyard, so it's essential to get it right. You'll want to work with a professional graphic designer to create a vector file of your logo that can be easily printed. Or choose to buy custom-made lanyards on our website.

Printing
Many people choose to print their lanyards using a basic printer. However, for best results, it's recommended that you use a professional printing service.

Here's a step-by-step guide to printing your promotional lanyards:
1. Purchase lanyard clips from your local office supply store.
2. Gather up all of the materials you need to make your design: paper or fabric cut into two 12-inch strips (the length should correspond with how long you want your necklaces), scissors, black ink pad, pen or pencil (or any other drawing instrument), glue stick or clear tape, ruler and paper trimmer (optional).
3. Print out the design on paper or fabric in the desired size and cut out each piece as directed by measurements indicated in the template provided.
4. Lay one strip of paper/fabric face down on the lanyard clip. Line up the bottom left corner of your printed image with one side edge of the clip, then fold over this corner onto the backside and print.
